Could you use a little ‘lift’?
As we age, our skin begins to lose its elasticity and collagen. These are substances in the body that keep our skin firm, plump and give it a youthful appearance. However, over time as we age, these substances begin to break down. When this happens, our skin can no longer hold up as it used to. But there are ways to combat this. At Advanced Aesthetics in Ocala, we use the Radiesse filler. This treatment is a dermal filler that fills sagging skin. It also restarts collagen production to help our skin stay firm naturally. It can give you a renewed and glowing appearance!
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is an FDA-approved dermal filler made from calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. The microspheres smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is used to add volume under the layers of the skin, and smooth away wrinkles. Radiesse also stimulates collagen production in the body.
How does Radiesse work?
Like all dermal fillers, Radiesse is injected under the skin, where it provides immediate volume and correction. The main process is that once injected, it provides immediate volume and correction. But it also stimulates the body to restore its own natural collagen production by acting as a scaffold. The scaffold structure along with the fibroblasts under the skin allow for natural collagen to grow.
How long does it last?
While other dermal fillers last anywhere from 4 to 6 months, Radiesse lasts up to one year or more in some patients. This is due to the scaffolding and length of time to metabolize the CaHA particles.
What are the benefits?
Benefits of using Radiesse is that it takes no time for the effects to appear. And that it is the only filler that stimulates the body to create its own collagen. Giving the patient a natural, youthful and refreshed appearance.
Another benefit, is that it lasts longer than other dermal fillers. Which frees up your time without having to worry about treatment upkeep.
What are the side effects?
As with any medical procedure, there are some side effects that must be mentioned. The common side effects are as follows: bruising, redness, swelling, pain, itching and lumps/bumps around the injection site.
More serious side effects are as follows: vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, and temporary scabbing or scarring. The chances of experiencing a serious side effect is rare, however; If you begin to experience any of these after receiving a Radiesse injection, it is advised that you seek immediate medical attention.
